So in honor of my birthday coming up (the one where I turn a quarter of a century old) I decided to give myself a gift. And I decided that it should start the first of February, and conclude on my birthday. Then I tried to figure out what I wanted to do. I had lots of ideas, and it was hard to decide, but I finally picked:21 days with no sugary treats.
Now you may think, oh that's easy. Well maybe for you. This, to me, is like saying, go without air for 21 days. I kind of thought it was impossible. But I went all day yesterday and today, so I'm feeling hopeful. I'm kind of wondering why I chose something to make my life harder as my present to myself, but I think I need it. I would consume about 5 people's daily allotment of treats in a couple hours, on a daily basis.
I also had a hard time deciding what counts and what doesn't. Yogurt, muffins and popsicles were debated (with the ever supportive and patient Jon) and we decided yogurt- yes, other two- no. Unless I make my own popsicles with fruit juice. Because juice is allowed.
So wish me luck, and hopefully I will survive. I am planning on having the world's largest piece of cake on my birthday to celebrate! Then I hope to go back to eating like a normal person.

Good luck! I don't think I'd be able to do it...
ooh, I just did this- for the entire month of January. I made it, and didn't ever cheat! I've got a sweet tooth too, but you can do it!
You are a better person them me...I should give that gift to myeself, but just tonight I was asking Tyler if he had some kind of a secret stash because I needed something sweet so bad. He didn't, but I was dreaming of cookies and candy bars.
Good Luck!
Good for you! Good luck with it! I really need to do something like that too. I heard that by cutting the extra sugar/sweets out of your diet for a while that you can train your body/tastebuds to not crave it as much.
I hope day 4 is going well!
You're my hero, Manda! I don't think I could do that...I just ate a whole bag of caramels...by myself. :o( I did space it out over a couple of days but that's still bad.
I heard that when you're craving sweets to eat fruit or something with natural sugars in it and your craving will be satisfied. I've never tried it because it sounded like a load of crap. Good luck!
You are an awesome girl. I'm proud to be your mom. When I saw the picture of the candy bars with the bow I thought you were giving yourself that present.Quite the contrary in fact. You are a great example. I LOVE YOU! YOU CAN DO IT! love, MOM
