Random Update

Katie fell off the swing yesterday. She leaned back and did a flip, and landed on her face. It was so sad, and some days I wonder if she'll even make it to 3! But she is tough, and about 5 minutes later she was begging to go back on the swing. She settled for the slide.
Then we were playing on the deck, and I found another wasp nest. In the eaves. So we went back inside, and there was a wasp in the bathroom!! How did it get there? I think they are stalking Katie.

Aimee has slept for about 7 hours in a row every night for the last two weeks. I love it! And, she can fall asleep without nursing. That took a while, but it's so nice now!

The house is coming along pretty fast now, they built the floor of the second floor already. Which is fun seeing it change so much in a day, but waking up at 7 am (which for night owls is brutal) to someone ripping the siding off the house which also happens to be 6 inches from your head- not so fun. It is so loud! Also, I'm writing this before I usually even wake up. Oh, one more thing. The guys working on the house like music- and to hear it over the nailing and such, it has to be really loud. (Notice a theme here?) So we sound like we are having a fiesta every day. Which is actually kind of fun!

I get headaches a lot. They make me so miserable, but then I take some ibuprofen, and 30 minutes later- bliss! I always feel so awesome after a headache has gone away. Really, I just feel normal, but it feels so much better than crappy! I recently realized it is the same with not being pregnant. I'm not one of those people who LOVE being pregnant. In fact, I hate it. I get huge (yes, everyone gets big, but my kids stick straight out of me, so I look like I'm having twins, plus my last kid was 9 lbs) and grumpy, and nothing works right. I love my babies, but if I could grow them outside my body I would. Anyway, nearly every day I wake up and feel excited that I'm not pregnant. I feel so good most of the time and I get giddy at the thought of not being pregnant again for a few years (or ever). I literally feel sick if I think about getting pregnant. So thank you IUD, marvelous little piece of plastic and hormones that keeps me from going insane.

Ok, all done. It feels better getting that all out!

Sad!

Katie got stung by a wasp today. We were playing on the deck, and all of a sudden she screamed. Somehow I knew immediately that it was a sting, before even seeing her hand. Anyway, I saw a wasp flying by her little table, so we went inside and I gave her a ring pop (thanks Lisa!) and put ice on her hand. We went outside again, and a few minutes later, I look down, and the wasp nest was under Katie's table! Freaky. So we all were banished inside. Katie is such a tough girl though, she didn't cry very long, and was totally fine after a couple minutes. She doesn't get that from me! At least I have a genuine reason to hate bugs!

And now pictures to make up for sad news!
I love this picture of Aimee she does this face all the time
Katie sandwich! Erica and Nickenstein.
These two are from Claire's party.

My nieces and nephews are so cute. I'm so glad a bunch of them live close,
and the others get to visit!

Happy 4th of July!

Here's our day in pictures:
Strawberry pie, for breakfast. We're so healthy.
Then we had a party, and we made grilled artichokes with lemon garlic aioli. They were so good. There was a lot of other good food too, but I forgot to take more pictures. Oh I made my friend Sara's Lime Cilantro Rice with Pineapple, and it was so yummy. I don't normally like to mix sweet and salty, but I loved this rice. Click on the link to get the recipe.
After we ate, we watched the fireworks.

And one of Aimee, just because she's cute. We hope your day was fun too!

Chopsticks and Idol

First of all, I hate coming up with titles for my posts. I sit here forever trying to come up with something, and I usually erase it 9 times before I just stick with my first attempt. Just so you know.

Last weekend the girls and I went and visited my parents, and gave Jon a nice break. (Anyone care to enter me into a wife of the year contest?) It was a lot of fun, and my parents tried to fatten me up with delicious food. I did not resist.
My dad gave Aimee piano lessons, she is now master of chopsticks. See?
Last night we went and watched my sister Lisa sing. It was an American Idol type thing for the county she lives in. She was so awesome! It was fun. We got some cotton candy, and Katie hated it. I gave her a big handful, and she ate a couple bites and gave it back. What kind of kid doesn't like cotton candy? And was she switched at the hospital? I gladly ate the rest.
Anyway, Katie got to see her cousin Claire, and they had fun together. They even held hands as we walked back to the car. So cute.

Funny Girls

Katie has been cracking us up recently. A few days ago she ran over to me and was wearing this:She said, "I'm Jesus!"

Katie has a little freckle on her foot, and we call them beauty marks. Today she was talking about her "beauty marker" on her foot. Then she points to one of mine and says, "Mommy has a beauty marker" and points to one on Jon and says "Daddy has a beauty marker." So I asked her if Daddy was beautiful. She said "Nope!" Jon said, "Mommy is beautiful" and Katie said "No!" Then she said, "Tyler is beautiful." So Uncle Tyler is apparently the most beautiful. Jon and I laughed for a while at that one.

This picture made me laugh, they're such goofy girls.

And lastly, I got my hair cut and I love it. I look just like my sister Lisa!

New Exciting Things!

We have fun new things to tell you about!

1. Aimee likes carrots. Note the death grip on my hand in the first one.

2. Jon's parents are remodeling their house. This is what it looks like outside our window. Katie has been glued to the window most of the day. Shortly after I took this someone ran up to our door and told us to turn off the water heater. I guess they hit a line or something, and we have no water. So I was thinking I didn't have to do any laundry or dishes, and I thought that was kind of nice. Then a few minutes ago I realized I can't use the bathroom. And Jon took the car to school. Nice.
3. I got a new camera! It is so cute and TINY! It's the size of a deck of cards. And it came with a tiny SD card, so I can take 12 pictures before I have to upload them to the computer. Thank goodness Costco has a coupon for SD cards!
4. Aimee slept for 7 hours straight last night. You probably don't realize the awesomeness of that statement. It is amazing for two reasons: She has been such a crappy sleeper recently, she was doing good, then totally regressed to eating every two hours again. And I need my sleep! The other reason is that is officially the longest stretch she has ever slept. Please please let her do it again!

5. Jon's last final is Wednesday night! Woohoo!

Comments

I just spent like an hour commenting on people's blogs.

I love getting comments, it's so fun. But leaving comments for other people takes so long, I never do it. Then occasionally (like today) I'll feel really guilty and do them all at once. Because if I leave anyone out then I'll feel more guilty! I just can never think of what to say, and if it's too short it looks silly, and if it's too long, you look dorky, and I can never write anything that sounds like an intelligent person wrote it. But by the 20th or so comment I gave up, and just typed whatever came to my head first.

So,
YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!

Love,
Manda

More pictures

I really really should be asleep. It's so late, and I'm going to hate myself tomorrow, yet here I am at 3am, wide awake. So why not update the blog, eh?

Well first off, Aimee is finally sleeping better, most of the time. It's soooo nice! She sleeps for about 6 hours straight now, which is much better than before. I really should be taking advantage of it!
Also, she is 5.5 months old now, and she learned a new trick:
She can sit up all by herself!
Can you tell they are sisters? Also, I found an old picture of me as a baby, and I tried to get a picture of Aimee to compare. Here it is:

Apart from the fact I actually had some hair, they look pretty similar, right? We have the same nose and mouth for sure, and eye shape too I think. Except somehow my girls both got their dad's blue eyes and light hair.
And now I think I will finally go to bed, so here's one more of my cute baby.

(And I will eventually get a good one of Katie, she's just at the age where she's either too busy to look at the camera, or she does this weird fake smile that looks ridiculous)
