A good morning

I woke up today to Katie in bed with me, and Aimee fussing. I have no recollection of Katie getting in bed with me. I was tired. So I got Aimee out of bed and brought her in with me, where she promptly woke Katie up, sat on my head, etc. Amazingly enough, I fell back asleep and the girls apparently left.
About an hour later, I woke up. I think you can only understand this if you're a mom: I woke up with a start because it was too quiet. I jumped out of bed, and ran into the hall, and the gate leading downstairs was open. Open! I ran and threw clothes on, and ran downstairs, and there was a note at the bottom of the stairs from my Dear Dear mother in law: The girls are with us and are doing great-no worries- A
My heart calmed down, and terror subdued, in it's place: a sheepish guilty feeling. I talked to Ane, and she said they were fine, and she'd send them back up soon. Aimee wandered over, and when I tried to give her a hug she screamed and cried and ran to Gramma. So I went home to take a shower.
But before said shower, I got on the computer, and lo and behold, Our Best Bites is having spa week. So I whipped up an oatmeal scrub and a strawberry mask! My skin looks amazing. I keep looking at myself in mirrors, and sometimes even getting up to go look at myself. I am so vain :) But seriously, it's almost glowing. Jon is going to do it too :)
So head on over to Our Best Bites and do it too, and you can have glowy skin. It makes you forget things like leaving the gate open and letting the kids escape.

Memorial Monday List Day

My favorite things right now. Not and exhaustive list, and has nothing to do with Memorial day.

  1. Aimee calls herself me-me. Love it.
  2. Cookie Crisp cereal for breakfast. Katie always asks me why I'm eating cookies. (She gets Cheerios.)
  3. Going on walks with the girls. We just went on one, and it was so fun. Two different llamas came to the fence and stared at us. And the sheep baa-ed at us.
  4. Living kind of in the country. See #3. I love all the animals. I also love that I don't have to take care of them.
  5. Sunny, but not extremely hot days. The girls love playing out on our deck, and I love the opportunity to do dishes without helpers. Or what's more likely- get on the computer.
  6. Plants vs. Zombies. Most addicting game ever.
  7. I ended up dying my hair with the wash out stuff. I'm too lazy to have actual red hair I decided. But I really love the color it is right now. Still dark, but crazy red in the sun.
  8. Katie says the funniest things. One time she said, She cried her head off! then she thought for a second, then, that was sad! And one time I said, Katie I guess you don't want to read a book, and she said, I GUESS I DO!
  9. My new dresser and mirror my parents got for $35. It is way nice.
  10. I made noodles from scratch last night, and they were Awesome and Easy. This is the recipe I used. It was just eggs, and flour. Then boiled in salted water, and tossed with butter and Herbes de Provence. I ate a bunch, and ate some more.

Two funny kid things

  1. Katie was saying a prayer, and she was thankful for "make Aimee laugh"
  2. Aimee had crackers, and dropped them into a little play pitcher, and they wouldn't come out. She stuck her hand in to get them out, and her hand got stuck, but she wouldn't let go of the cracker to get her hand out. Crying ensued. I got her hand and cracker out. Then she did it again.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, and future moms!

I love my mom, she is my best friend, and still loves me despite my awful teenage years.

I love Jon's mom, she treats me like one of her own kids.

My sisters and sister-in-laws are all so awesome, and I admire them a lot.

I'm so lucky.

I'm thinking about dying my hair red...

And I either want encouragement, or discouragement, I don't know which. So you can decide.

Monday List Day

This is one of my 25 things, and I'm just now starting it. I am a slacker. But hopefully now every Monday I will be making lists, hopefully not boring lists.

Today's I decided would be:

What I've done today:

  1. Had an annoying dream where a baby was crying a lot and I couldn't make it stop.
  2. Woke up and realized it was Aimee crying. She had snot down to her chin.
  3. Cleaned up the mess Katie made before I woke up.
  4. Bowls of cereal all around.
  5. Got myself and Aimee dressed. Told Katie her shirt was on backwards.
  6. Looked at community programs and tried to decide whether to put Katie in soccer this summer.
  7. Asked Katie if she would like to play soccer. Endured temper tantrum caused by not playing soccer NOW!
  8. Unloaded and partially loaded the dishwasher.
  9. Boiled eggs.
  10. Told Aimee to get off the bench/couch/chair forty times.
  11. Picked up Aimee off the bench/couch/chair thirty-nine times. (Telling her to get down worked once)
  12. Checked my blog and email 15 times. Checked other people's blogs too. (While doing #s 10 and 11)
  13. Snacks for kiddos.
  14. Put Aimee to bed.
  15. Dyed eggs with Katie.
  16. Spilled blue dye all over the counter top.
  17. Played my DS.
  18. Ate chips and made this list.
Not bad for me. I still have to go grocery shopping, make dinner, and do some laundry. We'll see.

Mostly cute kids

We were at the grocery store a couple of days ago, and Katie sees a man walking toward us. She stared at him for a minute, and as he's passing us, she says, "That was a big guy. Mommy! That was a big guy! He's FAT!" Oh my gosh, I have not been so embarrassed in a long time. I immediately put my hand over my mouth to prevent laughing, then told her that it's not nice to call people fat. The guy wasn't even fat, he was just tall and solid.

Aimee just smiles at everyone passing by. She scrunches up her nose and looks very cute. Unless she decides she doesn't like a person, then she stares with a disapproving look on her face.

Aimee has her own language. She used to say bah-boh for bottle, and then it became anything she drinks. Then she changed it to Bah-boo. Then she started calling me ma-moo the other day. I was not so pleased about that one.

I told Katie to go to her room, and we could read a book together. She said, "Mommy, I can't read. But I can listen!" It was cute.

Happy May Day (yesterday)

Picture Update

The potty party
Easter

Aimee loves kitties, or kiki, as she calls them. The problem is kiki (kitty) and Kaki (how she says Katie) sound a lot alike. Then my sister got a dog, and it's name is Kiki.
Poor Aimee is a bit confused.

Katie's Dancing skills

Yeah, she learned these from me.
