Free on Fursday!

That's what Katie's been saying this week, and it's finally thursday!

Happy Birthday Katie!!!!!

I can't believe she's three.

She started her day early, and had a tootsie pop for breakfast. She found it somehow, and came and showed us, she was so proud of herself.

When we got to work, she wanted cereal, so I stuck a candle in it, and Erica and I sang happy birthday to her. She thought it was fun, so we did it at lunch too. And she got a cute baby doll that she likes a lot.

We're going to Grandma's later to have a tiny party, and she watched a movie, so she should be pretty happy :)

Katie and Aimee both have news!

Katie is now pacifier free! And we managed it before she turned three. She still steals Aimee's at every opportunity, but she's getting better. If only potty training were so easy.

Aimee is officially a crawler. She started about two weeks ago, but just got really fast in the last week. She also learned how to pull herself up at the same time, so she spends most of her day crawling to different things and pulling herself up on them. She's getting more steady now, and lasts about a second standing before falling down. She is just so happy to be able to get around, and she follows me around all day.

My news is not nearly as exciting- I'm getting a root canal on Halloween.

Tagged

I was tagged by Katie!

1. I can't really smell. I can smell things if they are really strong and right under my nose. But, if I think about something I make myself smell it. If someone talks about pizza I start smelling it.

2. I get extreme satisfaction from buying things. Well actually, going shopping. I love shopping, and I buy stuff all the time. This is not good for our budget, so I also return about half of what I buy. I know, it's retarded, but I do it.

3. Since I love shopping, I always go SLOW. This drives people crazy I'm sure, but I like to think about every purchase I make, so I avoid returning more. The longer I take, the less I buy. Jae should never go shopping with me :)

4. I'm always surprised when I look in the mirror. I generally think I'm cute, then I look at myself, and think wow, not that cute.

5. When I eat up chicken there can't be any fat or veins or tendons on the part I eat. I waste a lot of it that way, but I can't bring myself to eat it if I can see it. I don't buy it that often now, because it takes forever to get all the fat off, and I throw away at least 1/3 of it. I think my mom would be horrified.

6. Dead fish freak me out. I literally will scream if you come at me with a dead fish. If it's alive it's ok, but I can't deal with dead ones. It totally grosses me out that people cook a whole fish and serve it to you like that, with the head STILL ON!! If it is still in the shape of the animal it came from, I can't eat it!

7. When we watch the Incredibles, I cry when the mom is on the plane with the kids and they're about to get blown up every time. I've seen it at least 15 times, and I've cried every time. Even if it's on and I'm not watching it, if I can hear it I cry. Not sobbing, but definitely tears. Also, I cry when people clap at the end of things. I think it's mosly standing ovations. I have no idea why this is, but it's embarassing!

I am pretty sure no one is going to want to be my friend after all this! I am weird! But it was fun anyway. I tag Emily, Andrea, Jessica, Molly, Kendra, Carly and Kara. And if you don't do it I think 7 random bad things will happen to you! Within 7 minutes of each other. Each lasting 7 seconds. So you better do it.

Pictures

Aimee standing up! She can do it for a while now, as long as she's leaning against something. She's still not really crawling, but almost.
Please ignore the huge stain down the front of her coat, it was a bean burrito tragedy.

Aimee loves swinging.
And "tater-totting" as Katie says. These veggies, plus green beans and bok choy and some noodles and pork became...
This. And it was good if I do say so myself. Greasy and yummy like Chow Mein should be.

Friends!

A couple weeks ago I went to dinner with a few friends I've known for a long time. It was really fun to catch up, and feel like I was a kid again for a couple hours. The only difference was a few husbands and 5 kids. (plus one more coming soon)
Anyway, Jessica's daughter Kadee and my Katie had so much fun together, they were little partners in crime. As I was watching them play I thought, wow, I'm pretty much my mom. I'm sure she and Jessica's mom watch us play together as little girls.
The girls coloringIt's hard to see Kadee, but she's in there too. They had so much fun hitting the balloons around. And then I had to have a waitress hold Aimee while I untangled Katie from the balloons. She wrapped herself all up, and it took a few minutes to get her out.
Jess, Ange, me and Em. I'm the only one without a good nickname!

I was going to scan some old slightly embarassing pictures, but the scanner isn't connected right now, and that is a job for Jon, not me. So you lucked out girls!

Water... or the lack thereof

Warning, this is kind of a complain-y post, so feel free to skip down to the last few paragraphs at the end. I won't feel bad!

As you may or may not know, the house we live at is under major construction. In the process, our water has been turned off multiple times. Last week, our water (which came in through a hose) was turned off and hooked up in it's new location, with pipes. When Jon tried to turn it on, nothing came out. So he went to check, and the plumbers connected the pipe in the wrong place, so when you turned on the water, it went around the house, and back up, and started pouring out underground at the pipe they just cut. I'm sure that didn't make any sense, but it's too boring to explain the whole thing, so suffice it to say, they totally messed up. And apparently don't check their work. Well, Thursday night, Jon's parents come over and notice the garage floor is soaking wet. The washer was not the culprit, so they look around and find the toilet in the garage is overflowing. After some plunging, and investigating, and a lot more overflowing when Jon tried to take a shower, we realized: every time water goes down a drain, it overflows out the toilet. So the garage is soaking in raw sewage. Awesome. And since we had no water, we had no toilet. Luckily (I guess) there is a bucks outside, which I had to use, and I can safely say was one of the grossest experiences of my life to date :) So the plumbers came Friday to fix it, and cleared out a clog, and I think put some new pipes. One of the contractors came around 5pm to tell us our water was back on. So I went and drained the water out of the washer, and I looked a couple minutes later, and water was pouring out of the toilet again. We tell the contractor, since the plumbers were long gone, not bothering to even check if they did it right yet again. So the saintly contractor stayed waiting for the plumbers to return, which I think they never did. We heard something in the front, and Jon went to check, and the contractor was digging with an excavator, and he eventually found a pipe that had been cut off, and dirt was coming into. So that might be the problem. He said the plumbers would be coming the next day to try and fix it. Meanwhile we went to Jon's parent's apartment, and spent the night. So later on Saturday, Jon goes back over to make sure we have water before we pack the kids back over, and IT'S NOT FIXED! (That is me yelling) The pipe is still cut, nothing was done. So we will be here at least until Monday, and who know if they'll actually fix it then! The thing that topped it all off, is there is a hole in our wall, where a door is going to go. It's normally covered with plywood. Well apparently while we were gone, the people doing the sheet rock took the plywood off, and just left with it off. I'm starting to think they just really hate us.
So that was a really long complaint to explain why we are not at home, and the pictures will have to wait. And, I'm not writing this just to complain, I do appreciate being able to live there, and I just want to remember so I can be really grateful when the remodel is done.
On a happier note, my mom got up really early and drove up and walked a 5k with me! She was feeling sick too, so thanks mom! It was really fun and I appreciated having her there!
Aimee can wave, and blow kisses now too. It is adorable. She's still not crawling, and I can't say I'm sad yet! She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks, so it's only a matter of time. And she can stand up if she's leaning on the couch or something. It's really fun. I forgot how fun this stage is. She's learning so fast. I do miss her being the tiny baby, but I love that she's interacting with us more.
Katie is either cracking me up or driving me crazy. Sometimes both at the same time. She's talented like that.

So here are a couple pics for you. You know you wanted them. The first two are from Miss Lucy's 1st Birthday. Happy Birthday Lucy!!!

Aimee just being a cute conehead. This kept the kids entertained for quite a while. So funny that the girls all hopped in the tub and the lone little boy at the party obliged and gave them all a ride. (with only a little help)

And this one, it's hard to tell, but she fell asleep while drinking her bottle, but one arm was still holding the bottle in. Aimee loves the bottles. Also, she's gaining weight again, and much happier. Which means we're all happier.

In other news, I am going to see some old friends this weekend, and I'm so excited! I'll be sure to get some pictures so you can see how cute we all are :) And you better believe I will dig up some old ones to show you too!

Changes!

Aimee was losing weight and is now a bottle baby. She loves them! And while it's sad that I'm not nursing anymore, now I get cute pictures like this one:
And continuing with Aimee, here is a picture from todayYes, she is asleep, UNSWADDLED!!!! Miracle of miracles. Apparently all she needed was to sleep on her tummy. This was for a nap, so we'll see how tonight goes.

My mom made this skirt for Katie (she made matching ones for all the grandgirls) Apparently Katie thought it would be better as a poncho!
And just one more cute one of the girls today
Katie has been smiling for pictures, and looking at the camera for the last few days, and I love it. It was driving me crazy that I couldn't get a good picture of her, so it's nice.

And finally, my hair. I found I can also bobby pin the bangs back too, which is nice. I don't have to look the same every day!

Update Time

Here's our news, good and bad.

1. New Car
New to us anyway. We just got it on Saturday, since our car was totaled. We had a navy blue Camry, and now we have a black Camry. We bought it off craigslist from some super nice people, so we're just kind of hoping it doesn't break anytime soon. The joys of being poor students!
2. New Hair
I was bored with my hair, so I cut bangs. I look SO different. I feel like I have a wig on. And I keep being surprised when I look in the mirror. I like it though, it's just weird. I'll post a pic later.
3. Katie's Stutter
She just within the last month or so started stuttering, and I spent a while on the internet researching, and she has a real stutter (not just normal dysfluency) since she repeats just the first syllable, not the first word. (Ex.- Are-are-are you going? as opposed to Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Are you going? Katie does the latter.) According to the Stuttering Foundation (which I had no idea even existed) there's a very good chance she'll outgrow it, since it started early. I also learned what to do (speak slower) and what not to do (don't interrupt or tell her to start over) The internet is awesome like that. So I'm a bit worried because it seems like it's getting more frequent and it's starting to bother her. She started putting her hand on her face when it gets bad. Poor girl.

More mirrors

What can I say, the girls like looking at themselves! I have no idea where they got that from...
